Born of incorruptible seed

The daily headers of this blog are a series of declarations of truth:
  • I am a child of God
  • I am saved by grace
  • I am forgiven of all my sins
  • I am born of incorruptible seed
Theses truths declared regularly have the greatest ability to set our minds free from ungodly beliefs and negative thoughts.

Today's truth comes from I Peter 1: 22 - 23
22 Since you have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit in sincere love of the brethren, love one another fervently with a pure heart, 23 having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever ...

The incorruptible seed is the word of God and it is through this and the work of the Holy Spirit that we have been born again.  Our old life has gone and we are living a new life.  What a wonderful thought to  meditate on at the start of a new year.

As we continue in our new life, it is the Word of God and the guiding hand of the Holy Spirit that continues to lead us into truth.  We cannot live our lives based on our or anyone else's opinions.  We must base our life on the word of God and what God says about himself and about us.  The word of God is incorruptible or as the NIV puts it imperishable.

The Bible does not corrupt and it has lasted for centuries.  Other ancient texts may have disappeared over time or can only be found in museums or universities but the Bible is available today as never before.  It is constantly being traanslated into new languages.  The Word of God never fails and can be relied on.  It's marvellous truths handed down century by centrury will lead us away from our old ways of sinful living and lead us into the freedom of walking dependent on God.  2011 was the 400th anniversary of the King James version of the Bible.  Let 2012 be the year when the incorruptible and imperishable word liberates us as we base our lives on the wonderful truths of the word.
